A letter transmission from the United States ambassador to Mexico, J.R. Poinsett, to the American Secretary of State Martin Van Buren. Poinsett outlines the paranoia and scapegoating he believes is occurring domestically in Mexico, mainly direct towards him in his capacity as the representative of the United States. Poinsett also outlines the dissolution occurring domestically in Mexico. A 4-page transcription of the original transmission sent in August of 1829. —— Transmisión de una carta del embajador de los Estados Unidos en México, J.R. There was fear regarding the loss of land to the United States. The 1855 Mexican Law Decree was mandated on February 13, 1855, in Mexico, and it was decreed by President Santa Anna and signed by Governor of the Federal District Martin Carrera and Secretary Joaquin Noriega. The edict relates to the topic of municipal governance, including appointments from the central government. Pictured here is a crowd comprising of military and civilian elites surrounding the Obelisco a los Niños Héroes during the Centennial Celebration of Mexico's Independence from Spain. The monument was created to honor the Niños Héroes of the Battle of Chapultepec and the other 40 cadets who were subsequently imprisoned. The Niños Héroes were 6 military cadets enrolled in the Military Academy - the oldest being 19 and the youngest being 13. These 6 cadets all died - after refusing to retreat - during the Battle of Chapultepec, one of the last major battles of the Mexican-American War on September 13th, 1847. —— Aquí se muestra una multitud compuesta por élites militares y civiles que rodean el Obelisco a los Niños Héroes durante la Celebración del Centenario de la Independencia de México de España. El monumento fue creado en honor a los Niños Héroes de la Batalla de Chapultepec y los otros 40 cadetes que posteriormente fueron encarcelados. Los Niño Héroes eran 6 cadetes militares inscritos en la Academia Militar, el mayor tenía 19 años y el menor 13. Estos 6 cadetes murieron, después de negarse a retirarse, durante la Batalla de Chapultepec, una de las últimas grandes batallas de los mexicanos. Guerra Americana el 13 de septiembre de 1847.

A letter transmission from the United States ambassador to Mexico, J.R. Poinsett, to the American Secretary of State Martin Van Buren. Poinsett outlines the paranoia and scapegoating he believes is occurring domestically in Mexico, mainly direct towards him in his capacity as the representative of the United States. Poinsett also outlines the dissolution occurring domestically in Mexico. A 4-page transcription of the original transmission sent in August of 1829. —— Transmisión de una carta del embajador de los Estados Unidos en México, J.R. Poinsett, al Secretario de Estado de los Estados Unidos, Martin Van Buren. Poinsett describe la paranoia y el chivo expiatorio que cree que está ocurriendo a nivel nacional en México, principalmente directamente hacia él en su calidad de representante de los Estados Unidos. El Album de la Mujer was a newspaper that was owned and directed by Concepcion Gimeno de Flaquer. The newspaper ran from 1883 to around 1890 in Mexico City. This object includes a summary, a feminist piece, a piece about the woman of focus (portrayed on the front), a piece about women from Spain, hygiene, a small novel, poems, illustrations, etc. —— El Álbum de la Mujer era un periódico propiedad y dirigido por Concepción Gimeno de Flaquer. El periódico se publicó desde 1883 hasta alrededor de 1890 en la Ciudad de México. Este objeto incluye un resumen, una pieza feminista, una pieza sobre la mujer de foco (retratada en el anverso), una pieza sobre las mujeres de España, la higiene, una pequeña novela, poemas, ilustraciones, etc.
