Pedagogical Component

This three-day lesson plan aligns with an undergraduate, Monday/Wednesday/Friday course schedule. The goal is to teach students how to make targeted claims about audiovisual material by using digital tools for annotation. To engage new interventions into conversations covering a variety of DH topics, this lesson plan turns to AVAnnotate, a tool for digital annotation, and US Latine activism through historical audio from the Benson Latin American Collection’s Onda Latina holdings. The importance of this work lies in students’ involvement in meaningful DH conversations at the point of audio, annotation, and activism.
